- The main attributions of the Romanian Naval Authority are:
•inspection, control and supervision of navigation;
•control of the flag state and port state control;
•coordination of assistance, search and rescue activities in national navigable waters and actions in case of calamitynatural and naval disasters;
•protection of navigable waters against pollution by ships;
•sanctioning of contraventions, investigation of navigational events and accidents;
•registration and records of ships under the Romanian flag;
•recording, attestation and certification of seafaring personnel;
• abovetechnical inspection, classification and certification of ships;
•fulfillment of the state's obligations from the international agreements and conventions to which Romania is a party regarding its field of activity;
•drafting, approval and submission for the approval of the Ministry of Transportof draft normative acts and mandatory rules;
•auditing for ISM (Ship Safety Certificate) and ISPS (International Code for Ship Safety and Port Facility Security) certification of ships and shipping companies.
Considering the specifics of the activitiesTo the Romanian Naval Authority, permanent supervision is required 24 hours a day, by ensuring security (buildings, goods, people), the access gates to the unit, by supervising the exits and entrances of people and means of transport (fixed stations and by patrolling ), of the objectives.
