Description:
The purchase of structural analysis laboratory equipment is necessary for the implementation of the Project "ALFRED Stage 1, supporting research infrastructure: ATHENA (pool-type facility for thermohydraulic experiments and tests) and ChemLab (laboratory for lead chemistry)" Pthe Competitiveness Operational Program, SMIS Code 2014: 126159, Call Code: POC/448/1/1/, Large CD infrastructures.
For the implementation of a laboratory it is essential and fundamental to study the chemical phenomena that occur in lead melted and to be developed methods capable of controdamage these phenomena (aspects related to the chemistry of the cooling agent). In principle, the key aspects that must be studied and developed to support from a technical point of view the design activity of the ATHENA, ALFRED and LFR systems are represented by the control and monitoringthe chemistry of the cooling agent (in particular, the concentration of oxygen in the liquid metal), the interaction between the liquid metal and the structural materials, as well as the corresponding protection strategies. For the development of these systems, studying all these aspects is a point ccritical for guaranteeing the operational security of the systems.
