- Upgrade Aarhus 150 scanning tunneling microscopy STM to atomic force microscopy (AFM) facilities, resulting in a scanning probe microscopy (SPM) system
The system must allow viewing with resolutionatomic ation of both conductive surfaces by the STM method and insulating surfaces by the non-contact AFM method, at variable temperature between 150 and 400 degrees Kelvin. The control electronics shall be of low noise and high stability, NanonisTM type or equivalent. Supportsample lines shall be compatible with SPECS SH2/12 transfer systems. Operation will be ensured under ultra-high vacuum conditions, from 10 7 to 10 11 mbar. The system will need to come with image acquisition and analysis software. In addition to atomic resolution imaging, systemul STM will allow the spectroscopic investigation of the densities of occupied and unoccupied states, spectroscopies on isolated molecules, atomic manipulation, and the AFM system force spectroscopy on isolated molecules or on nanoscopic areas or "Kelvin probe microscopy" type measurements. The system will doand to allow access to the sample during measurements for experiments involving the irradiation of the samples or the evaporation of various products on them.
