Necessity and opportunity of the purchase:
The need and opportunity of the purchase was determined based on the financing contract no. 350/08.09.2021 named "Modernization of the marine research infrastructure EMSO - EUXINUS" - Code proiect 125943, POC/448/1/1/Mari infras-tructuri de CD.
The project will allow the development of research capabilities and increase the expertise capacity of GeoEcoMar in specific fields of environmental research, as follows:
1. Marine environment research: making available to researchers in the field ofmarine scientists, engineers working with marine technologies, decision makers and the general public a large and accurate volume of data on the physical and chemical parameters of the water column in the western part of the Black Sea, as well as information on possible marine natural hazards;
2. Research onsell marine pollution using marine environmental observation systems for continuous monitoring of oceanographic processes and how water masses interact. The measurements provide important information on natural hazards, climate change and the state of ecosystemsin the marine environment;
3. Assessment of emergency situations: development of technical capabilities for real-time detection, study, prediction and notification of risks due to natural geo-hazards for the Western Black Sea, protection of local communities, environment and structures...
