- The investment "Transition to 400 kV voltage of the Portile de Fier - Reşita - Timişoara - Săcălaz - Arad, stage II: LEA 400 kV d.c. Reşiţa-Timişoara-Săcălaz" is planned to be carried out in Romania's energy strategy for the coming years, approved by HG no. 1069/2007, to increase safetyin operation of the National Electroenergetic System (SEN) under the conditions of the appearance of new investments that encourage the efficient use of primary energy resources and new electricity consumers.
Realization of the transition to 400 kV of the Portile de Fier - Reșita - Timișoara - Săcăl axisaz - Arad, stage II: LEA 400 kV d.c. Reșița -Timișoara - Săcălaz generates a series of advantages, both for the operation of the internal transmission networks of the SEN, and for the consolidation of the interconnection with the ENTSO-E networks (European network of transmission system operators for electricity):
- secuincreases the supply of a large consumption area, of about 1000 MW;
- strengthens the Banat energy sector, thus contributing to the increase in the stability of voltages in the area and consequently also to the reduction of power and energy losses;
- leads to the strengthening of the network in the southwest Romania and therefore at cremaining the amount of electricity that can be transited between Romania and Serbia, which generates higher financial compensations;
- improves safety in operation and increases the quality of the transport service in both power systems;
